Lucy has been riding since 1999 and has attained many varied class A, Regional, and East Coast Championships with her Half Arabian mare, as well as two Youth Nationals Top Tens in reining. Although Jennifer Wilson showed successfully at the show, she was unable to be there for the presentation. Jennifer is a member of the Arabian Horse Association of Del Marva. She has been involved with the breed since she was 8 years old. Having left college for financial reasons more that 10 years ago, she returned to Wilmington University in 2009 to pursue her dream to become a teacher.
Meanwhile she had become a wife and mother and the owner of a small, successful breeding farm. Juggling all this and a full-time job, Jennifer still maintains a 4.0 GPA in her full college schedule, and expects to take double credits next year in order to reach her goal sooner.
Significant features of her involvement with Arabian horses include the following:
-being the breeder of 3 foals that won multiple blues, championships, reserves, and most classics, as well as 2009 Regional and East Coast Championships and Reserves.
-having served as president, show secretary, high point secretary, and news reporter for her organization
-promoting Arabians at parades, race tracks, and festivals.
Her professors, employers, and fellow club members describe Jennifer as conscientious, responsible, dedicated, persistent, helpful, good-humored, caring, and passionate about Arabian horses and her career goal.
Region 15 is proud to have members like these two young ladies and wishes them a successful and rewarding future. Other prospective or current college students who are members of Region 15 clubs are encouraged to apply for 2011. Requirements appear on the Region 15 website.
